The addition of non-dairy fats and proteins to dairy products is prohibited. The government has adopted a new Ordinance, which regulates specific requirements for this type of products, including permitted ingredients in their production. 

 
The document defines the criteria for the quality and composition of dairy products, the names used for them and the specific requirements for their labeling.
 
The ordinance introduces and defines the concept of "imitation products containing milk".
 
With the adoption of the document, unified criteria for the production of dairy products will be introduced. They aim to protect the interests of Bulgarian producers of raw milk and dairy products. The ordinance also guarantees that food information will not mislead consumers.
 
The draft ordinance has been published for public discussion on the public consultation portal www.strategy.bg.
