Necessary products:

  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • ½ A glass of fresh milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp May
  • 1 cup almonds or walnuts
  • ½ Cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar
  • 1 pinch of saffron
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • pinch of salt

Method of preparation:

Dissolve the yeast in the slightly warmed milk, add salt. Add the egg, melted butter, flour, knead the dough and cover with a towel. After 1-1.5 hours, roll it out to a thickness of 2 cm.

For the filling, the nuts must be dried. Mix them with the powdered and vanilla sugar.

Grease the pan in which you will bake with oil, spread a layer of dough, sprinkle with some of the filling, then again the dough, stuffing and so on several times. Cut the baklava into diamonds 10/4 cm in size, spread with egg yolk mixed with steamed saffron (let the saffron stand for 20 minutes in a tablespoon of hot water). Put half a nut in the middle of each diamond.

Bake the baklava at 180-200 ° C for 35-40 minutes. 15 minutes before removing from the oven, smear it with a glaze of melted honey.
