Required products :

  • 6 slices of bacon, finely chopped
  • 2 crushed garlic cloves
  • 1/4 tea cup flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons fresh milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream
  • 1 cup grated white cheddar
  • 1 teaspoon grated Gruyere cheese
  • salt and pepper
  • hot red pepper flakes
  • 1 bunch of asparagus, with trimmed edges
  • 1 cup crushed plain salted crackers

Method of preparation :

Turn on the oven to preheat while you prepare the dish.

Fry the onion in a pan to make it crispy - about 10 minutes. Remove from the pan with a slotted spoon and pat dry.

Discard excess fat from the pan, saving 1/4 cup for frying the remaining products.

Put the garlic in the pan and cook for a minute. Add the flour and stir, it should be fried until golden - about 2 minutes. Carefully pour the milk in a thin stream, stirring constantly to combine the products - no lumps of flour should remain. Let the sauce simmer for 5 minutes until it thickens. Add half the amount of both types of cheese to melt.

Finally, mix the bacon with the sauce and season.

Put the asparagus in a pan, pour the sauce on top, sprinkle with the remaining seeds and finish with the crackers.

Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes, then remove the coating and bake for 10 minutes, until crispy.
