Learn how to cook "Meat pie with minced meat and tomato sauce". Delicious recipe.

Required products :

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil (+ more to spread)
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 250 grams of minced pork
  • 250 grams of oily minced beef
  • 15 grams of breadcrumbs (or ground hard bread)
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 2 eggs, broken
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (about 400 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 400 grams of canned tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar

Method of preparation :

In 2 tablespoons of olive oil fry half the onion until soft - about 6-8 minutes. Add half of the garlic and after 10 seconds remove from the heat.

Mix both types of minced meat with bread crumbs, oregano, mustard and fried onions. Season with salt and pepper and mix with 1 beaten egg.

Line a baking tray with parchment paper and lightly grease it. Put a sheet of puff pastry on top. Pour the minced meat and cover the middle lengthwise, leaving 2 cm of free dough on all sides to cover the minced meat.

Use a sharp knife to cut strips of loose dough (the part on which there is no minced meat) and weave them over the meat.

Spread with the remaining egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake for about 1 hour at 200 degrees.

Meanwhile, put the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a small saucepan. Add the remaining onion and fry for 6-8 minutes until soft. Add the remaining garlic and fry for 30 seconds. Add 200 milliliters of hot water, tomatoes (canned and mashed), season and add oregano. Bring the sauce to a boil until the liquid is reduced, stirring occasionally. This will take you about an hour.

Cut the meat pie and serve with tomato sauce.
