How To Cook Potato Casserole With Onion, Cream And Cheese - Recipe

Required products :

  • 1 1/2 kilograms of potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon finely chopped onion
  • 1 clove of garlic, pressed
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 tea cup homemade vegetable broth
  • 1/2 teaspoon whole milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3 green onion stalks, finely chopped
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup grated yellow cheese

Method of preparation :

 

  • Boil the potatoes in salted water for 8-10 minutes. Drain.
  • Heat 3 tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the onion and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until soft.
  • Add the garlic and cook for another 1 minute.
  • Sprinkle with flour, stir and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Stirring constantly, add the vegetable broth and milk.
  • Continue to stir for another 5-8 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and add the sour cream. Stir well.
  • In a large bowl, combine the boiled potatoes, cream mixture, green onions, salt, pepper and grated cheese.
  • Grease a pan with the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil and pour the flavored potatoes.
  • Bake in a preheated 180 degree oven for 50-60 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow the potato casserole to cool for about 20-25 minutes before slicing and serving.
