Soak the dates for a few hours in water to soften. Then beat them with a blender along with the banana, add grated ginger root, freshly squeezed apple juice and lemon slices.
The drink is traditionally served with a spoonful of the Indian spice chavanprash, which is a strong immune stimulant, improves digestion and has a beneficial effect on the respiratory tract, but even if you prepare this cocktail without it, it will be no less useful.
