Coffee consumption is associated with many health benefits, including life expectancy

A team from the National Cancer Institute used the data of people involved in a large genetic study in the UK to draw these conclusions.

 

More than half a million people have donated blood voluntarily and answered detailed questions about their health and lifestyle. The team focused on the amount and type of coffee. They also took into account genetic predisposition, as the amount of coffee we consume is thought to be determined by our genes, not the amount of sleep we get the night before.

 

Research shows that people who drink coffee, no matter how much or what kind it is, are more protected than non-drinkers. Even those who consume more than eight glasses a day have greater preconditions for long life. Another good news for coffee lovers. 

 

However, excessive use can excite us and even raise cholesterol levels , so experts emphasize the importance of moderate consumption.

 

There are several possible explanations for the health benefits of coffee.

 

Coffee is a source of antioxidants - chemical compounds that fight the removal of free radicals that damage our DNA.

 

It also has the ability to reduce inflammation in the body, helps maintain normal blood sugar levels, improves the function of the liver and blood vessels. There is some evidence that coffee can help people recover from colon cancer, reduce the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease .

 

Its consumption is appropriate in the prevention of  Parkinson's disease and liver cancer .

 

The research team plans to collect data related to the method of preparation of the drink to see if it has any significance for health.

 

Some studies have previously suggested that unfiltered coffee may raise levels of unhealthy cholesterol.
