Eating 3 eggs a week is associated with an unpleasant pattern of prostate cancer in men.
There is hardly a man who does not like eggs. But men will have to think about how healthy it is to worship this type of food.
It turns out that eating only three eggs a week - not eating - increases the risk of prostate cancer, reports the Daily Mail. The conclusion is a team from Harvard University, which studied the eating habits of 27 thousand men over a period of 14 years.
In processing the data, experts come across a pattern that shows that when men consume more than 2 ½ eggs a week, the risk of prostate cancer increases to 81%.
Doctors suggest that the reason for the unpleasant result lies in the high content of cholesterol or choline in the eggs. Both cholesterol and choline are important for the structure and function of cell components.
Cholesterol is involved in the building of the membrane and some hormones. Choline helps cells to function properly. It is also known as vitamin B 4. It is valuable for memory and exhaustion of the body. In this regard, it is no coincidence that eggs are also preferred by people who undergo intense physical activity. Obviously, however, their excessive amount has the opposite effect on health.
In contrast to the higher incidence of tumors in the overuse of eggs, the researchers did not find a relationship between the amount of meat consumed and the risk of developing cancer in the study.
