Walnuts - Against Breast Cancer

Regular consumption of healthy nuts helps reduce the frequency and severity of tumors, according to a US study.

Eating a handful of walnuts every day helps reduce the risk of breast cancer by up to 50% , according to a new US study.

Nuts not only contribute to a lower risk of developing cancer. In patients with the disease, fewer tumors are reported in number and size.

"The benefits are especially important in people who are genetically predisposed to the insidious disease. We were able to reduce the risk of cancer, even in the presence of a pre-existing genetic mutation, ”said Elaine Hardman, study leader.

Walnuts are rich in fiber, B vitamins, vitamin E, protein, fat, iron, magnesium and other mineral salts. They contain a whole range of trace elements. In addition, they have significantly higher amounts of omega-3 fatty acids than other nuts.

The results of a study by Marshall University, West Virginia, show that higher consumption of walnuts can not only be part of a healthy diet, but also reduce the risk of cancer in future generations .

Scientists use genetic analysis to find that eating walnuts contributes to changes in the activity of many genes associated with breast cancer.

Chronic oxidative stress and chronic inflammation are thought to be the two factors that pose a high risk of developing cancer cells. Therefore, walnuts, enriched with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory substances , help in the fight against cancer.

There are other studies that prove the beneficial effect of nuts in breast cancer. According to researchers, the phytosterols contained in walnuts bind to estrogen receptors to slow the growth of breast cancer.

According to some studies, tumor growth decreases when the consumption of foods rich in vitamin E increases .
