Healthy food can give a person health, strength and beauty. However, there is a lot of talk around seemingly useful products. We decided to debunk the most common myths about healthy food.

Myth No. 1: foods are divided into harmful and useful

This is the most common mistake about products and healthy eating. For example, it is considered harmful to eat bananas, pasta, and bread on a diet. But in fact, all these products can be called useful. The main thing in the process of nutrition and selection of products is not only quality, but also quantity. If we talk about quality, you should pay attention to the composition. If it contains preservatives, various additives, then it is unlikely that such a product should be eaten. But clean food can bring benefits. But still, the division into useful and useless products is purely conditional. After all, one and the same carrot can be both useful and harmful. It all depends on the conditions of storage, processing, and ultimately the growing conditions. The method of preparation is also important. For example, many fruits and vegetables can be called perfectly useful in raw form, as they contain a maximum of trace elements and vitamins, which are lost during heat treatment. Frying, stewing and other similar methods will only make the food, and therefore your health, worse.

Myth #2: fats are harmful to the body

This is the second fastest spreading myth, as many confuse harmful and healthy fats. Yes, yes, such a division exists in the world. Fats are the most important component of cell membranes, a source of energy and health. However, it is worth consuming only unsaturated fatty acids, which can be extracted from vegetable oils, fatty types of fish, nuts, and avocados. But chips, fried potatoes and burgers, which are full of trans fats, should be abandoned.

Myth #3: Fruits and vegetables have the best nutritional supplements

It is believed that fruits and vegetables are the best sources of various nutrients and vitamins. However, in the modern world, when potatoes and even bananas can be grown even in winter, this is not quite the case. It is not for nothing that nutritionists recommend eating seasonal fruits and vegetables. The fact is that early or unseasonal harvesting leads to the fact that they do not reach normal maturity. And accordingly, they do not have enough useful substances that we would like to saturate our body with. Therefore, it is the most false myth that fruits and vegetables always contain the trace elements and vitamins we need. Only seasonal crops will be useful for humans.

Myth #4: separate meals are very useful

As a rule, proteins, fats, and carbohydrates are present in the diet, even if in very small quantities. However, some believe that this is not a useful principle. That is why separate meals were once invented. Its supporters believe that it is necessary to adhere to the principle of fractional nutrition with separate intake of various components. However, fractional nutrition can be used not only on a separate diet. It is quite simple to reduce the volume of portions — this is the key to healthy nutrition.

Myth #5: Fast food is bad

Snacks should be in the diet of every person, because it helps to hold on between the main meals. Some prefer to snack on fast food or ready-made snacks, for example, soup, chocolate, fitness bars. Such products, of course, will not be useful. But do not forget that there are healthy snacks. It is enough to take an apple with you, you can eat nuts or prunes. Yogurt, muesli, jelly, quickly cut salad - what are these bad and harmful snacks?

Myth No. 6: Low-calorie food is very meager

It is believed that with a small number of calories, a person will be constantly hungry. They said, you will have to eat only buckwheat, chicken and cucumbers. We hasten to assure you that this is complete nonsense! Even low-calorie food can be healthy and tasty. First, let's start with the fact that no adult should eat less than 1,200 calories per day. This will have a detrimental effect on health. Secondly, these 1200 calories can be gained very easily, you don't even notice it yourself. Let's imagine that you are not eating properly, and there is a lot of fast food in your life. For example, one slice of pizza contains about 300 calories. In order to properly eat such food, you will need at least 2-3 pieces, agree? This is already at least 600 calories. With proper nutrition, you will be able to find a lot of products that will easily and for a long time satiate you with the same number of calories. In lunch, you can include not some unfortunate pieces of pizza, but chicken, a massive salad, a small portion of soup and even bread. All this perfectly quenches hunger and will give much more benefit. If we talk about a full-fledged diet, then it can be extremely diverse, tasty, useful and at the same time low-calorie.

Myth #7: a person does not need biological supplements (BADs)

We have to disappoint you, but in recent years, hypovitaminosis has been observed in the world. This is a condition in which there are no special manifestations - only drowsiness, weakness, dull complexion and brittleness of nails and hair. It is often confused with ordinary fatigue or stress. But in fact, the body feels strong difficulties, which means that it needs additional nutrition in the form of dietary supplements. True, remember that it is better to take them under the supervision of a doctor, even though they are not medicines.

Myth #8: Fruit juice is extremely healthy

Juices are liquid concentrated calories with less health benefits than you might imagine. Purchased juices contain too much sugar, so it simply cannot be a useful product a priori. Juice cannot quench thirst or hunger, but it adds quite a few calories to your diet.

Myth #9: Organic foods are much healthier

Many are convinced that products sold with the label "organic" are much more useful than conventional ones. However, they are not rich in useful substances. When growing them, farmers do not use synthetic pesticides, but replace them with natural fertilizers, the side effects of which have not been fully studied. Therefore, we cannot claim that organic products are useful.

Myth #10: Avoiding gluten is good for health

Gluten-free food has been gaining popularity in recent years. However, it is a myth that it is useful for absolutely all people. Avoiding gluten is not meant to improve health. There are a number of people who are contraindicated to eat food with gluten. The rest should include it in their diet, otherwise problems with the heart and blood vessels are guaranteed.
