11 Most Pernicious Food Myths

However, not all advice should be blindly followed. Today we will tell you the 11 most pernicious myths about food.

In trying to eat right, many of us resort to advice from various sources, which now and then talk about the mandatory exclusion from the diet of many foods that supposedly have a bad effect on our body. However, not all advice should be blindly followed. Today we will tell you the 11 most pernicious myths about food.

1. Fatty food harms the figure

Many people think that by eliminating fatty foods from the diet, you will immediately lose weight. That's just the secret of imbalance in the body is completely different. It doesn't matter (in terms of weight gain) what you eat as long as you burn more calories than you consume. And this means that if you eat fatty foods, but fit into the daily intake, weight gain can be avoided.

2. Low carb diets are evil

Have you heard about it? Do you want to know about the benefits? Such a diet reduces the amount of subcutaneous fat, affects the lowering of blood pressure and blood sugar, and also raises the level of “good cholesterol”. Is a low carb diet bad? However, an amendment is needed here: in no case should you completely abandon carbohydrates: vegetables and fruits are the basis of proper nutrition and the key to a well-functioning body. And we advise you to “sit” purely on protein foods only once a week as a fasting day.

3. Vegetable oils are friends for the body

Polyunsaturated and unsaturated acids should be in our body in equal proportions. Taking a large number of different vegetable oils, we exceed the permissible norm, which introduces an imbalance in the work of our body. A glut of these acids gives the green light to heart disease.

4. Eggs Raise Blood Cholesterol

And, of course, it's not. Eggs are generally the most ideal breakfast option, and even contribute to weight loss if you stick to the norm. They, of course, contain cholesterol, but only useful, which does not harm your body.

5. Any diet should include grains.

Who inspired people that grain products are the most useful? In fact, these products contain phytic acid, which slows down the absorption of nutrients in the body, while creating bloating and irritation of the intestinal mucosa. Everything is good in moderation.

6. Fat-free foods are good for you

Believing this myth, you poison yourself with products that contain a huge amount of harmful substances: sweeteners, flavors, syrups, fructose. In fact, the fat-free product does not have the slightest taste and is more like ordinary thick water.

7. Eat often and in small portions!

And, you ask, for what? The myth says that in this way you speed up your metabolism and food is digested faster. But people forget that the body cannot work for wear and tear and digest food without stopping. You should experience a little fasting so that the body is cleared of decay products.

8. A high-carbohydrate diet is ideal for everyone.

No matter how! In fact, it is ideal only for people who are in good physical shape and lead an active lifestyle every day (go in for sports, etc.). For those who are overweight, it is best to follow a low-carb, medium-fat diet.

9. Sugar is only bad for calories.

Yes, there are enough calories in this product, but sugar is far from harmful. The fructose found in sugar converts to fat over time, and due to this process, an excess of cholesterol occurs in the body, which leads to diabetes and obesity.

10. Too Much Protein Damages Your Bones and Kidneys

This is not entirely true. Many scientists argue that protein is harmful because it leaches calcium from the bones. And this is true, but this only happens for a small amount of time until the body gets used to the protein. The kidneys are even happy with the intake of protein in the body, because it helps to normalize blood pressure and prevents diabetes.

11. Meat, cheese, butter - cholesterol villains

Yes, these foods contain cholesterol, but in our body, these foods only increase the rate of good cholesterol, not bad. And even the fact that they consist of saturated fats should not scare you, they contribute to the proper distribution of other nutrients.
