Summer heat is a serious test for the cardiovascular system. Cardiologists warn: suffocation and high air temperature can cause adverse changes in the state of blood vessels, contribute to blood clots, spasms, drop or rise (in hypertensive patients) of blood pressure, ultimately, the development of a heart attack and disorders of cerebral circulation.
Experts have given several tips that can help avoid cardiovascular disasters, first of all to the heart.
Drink water moderately. In summer, water consumption increases sharply. But, as doctor Anton Razgulyaev notes, when the amount of fluid in the body increases, the load on blood vessels and the heart muscle increases. The specialist emphasized: heart patients should consult their cardiologist about drinking water in the summer.
"In the heat, people with heart failure can only drink half a liter to a liter of water a day, provided that they take diuretics," explained Razgulyaev.
Protect yourself from temperature changes. Leaving a cool apartment on a hot street threatens the body with a temperature drop, which can cause blood vessel spasm in people with heart problems. According to doctors, when planning to go outside, it is better to turn off the air conditioner in the room in advance - this will help the body to adapt more easily to the temperature contrast.
