Onions are a popular root vegetable that is an important ingredient in many dishes. It is high in fiber, vitamin C and antioxidants, compounds that protect cells from oxidative damage and help prevent disease. Vitamin C increases immunity and reduces the severity of respiratory infections, as well as the symptoms of the common cold. Turnips are an ideal food for the prevention of cancer of the stomach , lungs and breast.
Beets are good in fiber, folic acid and manganese. It also contains compounds that help dilate blood vessels, lower blood pressure and improve heart health. Studies also show that eating beets can increase blood flow to the brain. Both turnips and beets have anti-cancer properties and can slow the growth and spread of cancer cells.
Ginger is loaded with antioxidants and in particular with a compound called gingerol, which has a number of health benefits. Ginger is effective in reducing nausea and vomiting and is considered a good food for pregnant women. It can reduce pain and inflammation and help relieve menstrual pain. Ginger is also used by people with osteoarthritis. It is a great addition to tea, drinks, soups, dishes, giving a pleasant aroma.
