In order to feed our body, we need to give up the widespread eating habits. If we pay attention to some tips for proper nutrition, we can improve our lives.
The variety of foods makes the choice more and more difficult. How to choose the right ones - those that "feed" not just the senses, but the body, providing it with the necessary vitamins ? Michael Polan gives advice in his book The Rules of Food.
We need to eat foods made only from products that we know look raw . This is the basic rule that will help to clear the diet of harmful chemicals and nutrients.
1. Eat food prepared by humans
If the food is not prepared by us personally, then let it be from another person and not from cooperatives, which, despite the human factor, do not invest anything humane in their production.
"Artificial" foods contain large amounts of salt , fat , sugar , preservatives and colors , which have the task of ensuring the "immortality" of the final food product.
2. Exclude white bread from the menu!
The health risks that come with white flour have been known for centuries. In the way it is mass-produced, it does not contain useful ingredients, such as fiber , healthy fats , vitamin B, which are found in whole grains.
3. Eat only when we are hungry
For many people, eating is often not about hunger, but rather about entertainment . When that time comes, we need to ask ourselves, "Am I really hungry?" Both before and during the meal.
The correct answer is, "If you're not hungry enough to eat an apple, you're not hungry at all." .
4. "The feast is in the first bite"
Following this maxim will not only make eating slower , but the enjoyment of food will be greater. The first bite is the most delicious, which suggests that with each subsequent pleasure will melt away.
The ideal option is to stop eating after the first few bites . If we continue, we will take in more calories, but we are unlikely to experience more pleasure.
