All the research done by scientists shows that the apple is one of the most useful fruits we know.
 


Regular consumption of apples has been shown to provide protection against chronic diseases, including diabetes and cardiovascular disorders. Apples help lower blood pressure, enrich the body with the necessary nutrients and reduce waist circumference.


Researched by Danish scientists added another proof of the benefits of regular consumption of apples.


The data from the study, published in BMC Microbiology, clearly show that a diet rich in pectin leads to an increase in the amount of so-called "good" bacteria in the gut. This in turn improves the digestive process and reduces the risk of health problems of the gastrointestinal tract.


Daily consumption of apples provokes the synthesis of larger amounts of fatty acids by gastrointestinal bacteria. Ideal acid-base conditions are maintained for the balance of microorganisms in the body.


It has been found that the inclusion of pectin in the diet of patients with disorders of lipid metabolism reduces the concentration of cholesterol in the blood by 5-18%.


The ability of pectin to bind bile acids in the intestine also determines its effect on bile acid excretion. Pectin successfully lowers the levels of so-called "bad cholesterol" and triglycerides without lowering the level of good cholesterol in high-density lipoproteins. Pectin has the ability to slow the emptying of the stomach and prevents a sharp rise in blood sugar after carbohydrate intake.


The conclusions drawn are based on results collected from studies of experimental animals fed apples or apple puree and juices.


The authors of the study are of the opinion that additional research is needed to prove that the same effect is observed in humans.
