In fact, just half a cup (90 grams) of cooked asparagus contains (1): Calories: 20. Protein: 2.2 grams. Fat: 0.2 grams.

Asparagus is a spring vegetable superstar that is in season from February through June. This unique vegetable makes a great addition to a home garden and it only takes a handful of stalks to reap their health benefits. Five asparagus spears contain only 20 calories, 2g of fiber, and 2g of protein.

One cup (180 grams) of cooked asparagus contains 8 grams of carbs, 4 of which are fiber. It's also a good source of vitamins A, C, and K (9).
