Boiled Greek Coffee For Longevity

Further research is needed to officially document the health benefits of Greek coffee.

Consumption of brewed Greek coffee has a positive effect on health and can be a cause of longevity.

Proof of this are the long-lived people living on the island of Ikaria , Greece. According to researchers, the islanders who regularly consume brewed Greek coffee are in good physical and health condition.

The research team traces the relationship between Greek coffee and endothelial function . The endothelium is a thin layer of cells of a special type of epithelial tissue that cover the inner surface of blood vessels at the boundary between the vessel walls and the blood and plasma flowing in their cavities. When damaged by internal or external factors, such as smoking, the overall protection of the vessels is violated.

The study involved 673 people living on the island of Ikaria, over the age of 65.

Volunteers underwent a series of medical tests to determine blood pressure , heart rate, risk of diabetes and other health indicators. They also fill in questionnaires about their lifestyle, diet and frequency of consumption of Greek coffee.

The results show that 87% of the participants consumed daily brewed Greek coffee . In them, endothelial function is much better. Researchers believe that coffee consumption can reduce the risk of coronary heart disease and have a positive effect on the endothelium.

Boiled Greek coffee is rich in polyphenols and antioxidants and contains moderate amountscaffeine .

Further studies are needed to formally document the benefits of Greek coffee on cardiovascular health .

The study was published in the journal SAGE .
