Adolescents who consume large amounts of vegetables rich in carotene and vitamin A, such as carrots, grow more intensively than their peers ...
A team of researchers from the University of Jerusalem found that children who ate more carrots grew twice as fast as their peers, who rarely ate orange vegetables.
According to experts, adolescents who consume large amounts of vegetables rich in carotene and vitamin A, such as carrots, grow more intensely than their peers, their bones are healthier and their muscles are better developed.
The study is based on data collected from nearly 300 children aged 3 to 16 years. Children who eat a healthy, balanced diet and take enough vitamins and minerals have grown 8 centimeters in one year. Their peers, who did not eat enough carrots and other orange vegetables, had grown only 4 centimeters.
According to the study's author, Dr. Tali Sinai, most short children are completely healthy but suffer from a hidden deficiency of vitamins and various micronutrients. It is known that deficiency of vitamin A, iron and zinc leads to growth retardation.
