Chocolate - For Better Concentration

American scientists are developing a recipe for chocolate, which not only improves concentration, but also lowers blood pressure.

Consumption of dark chocolate can improve attention and alertness , scientists say. Many people's favorite delicacy could be an alternative to coffee .

Based on this discovery, American scientists are developing a new recipe for chocolate, which not only improves concentration, but also lowers blood pressure .

To test his concentration- enhancing skills , Professor Lara Stevens of the University of Northern Arizona, USA, and his team conducted a study.

For this purpose, 122 people aged between 18 and 25 take part. Some of the participants consumed chocolate and others - a pacebo dessert. They are then scanned by electroencephalography of the brain to determine if and in which case the brain activity is affected .

Participants receive 1 g of dark chocolate for each kilogram of body weight - if a person weighs 63 kg, he receives 63 g of chocolate. The treats are packaged so that participants do not see what they taste like.

The researchers found that those who consumed chocolate, which contained 60% more cocoa, saw an increase in alertness and attention compared to the group that consumed placebo.

Scientists emphasize that ordinary chocolates, to which sugar and milk are added, do not have this effect. It is observed in products with a higher cocoa content .

Along with the positive effect on the brain , scientists have found that the consumption of chocolate also raises blood pressure levels . So the next goal they set for themselves is to find a way to simultaneously benefit from the positive effect of chocolate without it raising blood pressure.

During the experiment, the researchers combined chocolate with 60% more cocoa with L-Theanine , an amino acid found in green tea and acting as a relaxant. Scientists have registered an immediate drop in blood pressure levels among consumers of this type of chocolate, writes DailyMail .
