Chocolate Protects Against Heart Disease And Stroke ?!

Consumption of chocolate can be not only pleasant but also useful, it turns out.

Consumption of chocolate is associated with increased mood, but a favorite delicacy can also be useful for cardiovascular health . According to a new study, consuming 100 g of dark or milk chocolate a day can reduce the risk of developing heart disease and stroke .

For the purpose of the study, nearly 21,000 volunteers who took part in the sweet experiment were observed for a period of 12 years.

Some researchers claim that the consumption of sweet foods is not recommended for people suffering from cardiovascular disease. The authors of the present study, on the other hand, did not find any evidence to support this claim.

They found the exact opposite - among people who regularly consume chocolate - 100 g per day, there is a reduced risk of heart disease , stroke or other cardiovascular disease by 11% compared to those who do not consume at all.

Regular eating of the delicacy is also associated with a 25% lower risk of death due to heart disease.

The research team from the UK emphasizes that the study is more of a statistic and no definitive conclusions can be drawn.

They also say that the results may not be very accurate, as people who are at high risk of developing cardiovascular disorders may avoid consuming chocolate .

However, the analysis links the delicacy to some cardiovascular health benefits that experts attribute to flavonoid content . They are antioxidants that are found in dark chocolate and are believed to support blood circulation .

Experts add that consuming milk chocolate, which is generally considered less healthy, can also be good for health. This means that not only flafonoids, but also other compounds that are probably contained in milk - calcium , fatty acids , contribute to the beneficial effects of chocolate, writes DailyMail .
