There are two types of fatty liver disease - alcohol -induced and non-alcoholic. Fatty liver diseases affect a large percentage of the population and can cause liver failure.

Broccoli has been found to help prevent the accumulation of fat in the liver. Eating more greens, such as spinach, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower, can also help with overall weight loss.


Fatty fish such as salmon, sardines, tuna and trout are high in omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids can help improve liver fat levels.

 

Carbohydrates from whole grains such as oatmeal give the body energy. Their fiber content also creates a feeling of satiety, which can help maintain weight.


Walnuts are a food high in omega-3 fatty acids. In studies, patients with fatty liver disease who consumed walnuts showed improved liver function.


Avocados are high in healthy fats and studies show that they contain substances that can slow liver damage. It is also rich in fiber, which can help control weight.
