Drug And Alcohol Addictions

A person who is being treated for alcohol or drug addiction should only take products with a low glycemic index.

Unfortunately, not everything in life always goes by honey and butter. Sometimes our relatives or acquaintances take the wrong path and cannot change direction on their own, we have to fight for them and together with them in order to overcome their terrible disease - addiction, be it alcohol or drugs.

The treatment of an addicted person is a difficult and complex process and one of the aspects of full recovery, and as a consequence, a full life, is proper nutrition .

In the modern world, the glycemic index of food (ie its ability to saturate the blood with sugar) is constantly increasing. Taking such products, one experiences unusually pleasant sensations, vaguely reminiscent of those caused by opiates. This feeling occurs due to the biochemical processes that occur in the body during the absorption of sugar.

Studies show that a large proportion of addicts have consumed from an early age a lot of food with a high glycemic index, such as: potatoes, sugar, bread, preferring it to the rest.

A person who is being treated for alcohol or drug addiction should only take products with a low glycemic index. Some examples: apples, carrots, dried apricots, tomato juice, oatmeal, beans and others. Protein is also needed: dairy products, lean meat. Such a diet prevents fluctuations in blood sugar levels and the associated deterioration of mood, contributes to mental and moral balance. Thanks to such a diet, the nervous system is restored.
