Do you know what to eat during the winter season to maintain your health and tone?
During the cold and gloomy winter days we often feel the need to eat something sweet. The irresistible desire for sweets has a very logical explanation - thanks to sugar, more endorphins are produced. These are the so-called pleasure hormones that improve our mood.
Nutritionists remind us that winter is not really the right season to cram in sweets if we want to protect ourselves from winter colds, maintain our good figure and be cheerful and energetic.
Here are some of the products that will strengthen our immune system and keep winter diseases away.
Water
Despite the low temperatures during the winter season, metabolism cannot take place normally without water. Dehydration increases the chances of catching a cold because toxins are retained in the body. Remember to drink more water or decaffeinated beverages. You will be convinced that a cup of hot tea with honey and lemon works wonders.
Yogurt
Natural yogurt, which contains sufficient amounts of lactic acid bacteria and probiotics, promotes a healthy gastrointestinal tract, maintaining a constant weight, and a strong immune system.
Muesli
They are a good source of vitamins and trace elements, especially selenium and zinc. In addition, they are extremely rich in fiber, which regulates the function of the stomach and intestines.
Citrus
An orange contains the required daily dose of vitamin C. Oranges are also rich in flavonoids, which enhance the antioxidant effect of vitamin C. Other citrus fruits such as grapefruit and kiwi contain even more vitamins.
Garlic
It contains the natural "antibiotic" allicin, which helps prevent complications after the flu and cold. The use of only one clove of garlic every day has the necessary prophylactic and antiseptic effect.
Beef
Beef is an indispensable source of protein, iron, zinc and selenium. These elements help the body's cells to cope with various viral attacks. In winter, it is recommended to be combined with garlic and raw vegetables, because it increases the effectiveness of these products in the fight against colds.
Green peppers
They are one of the best sources of vitamin C among vegetables. The flavonoids contained in peppers enhance the antioxidant effect of vitamins. Green peppers can be used in the preparation of winter dishes, such as salads and side dishes.
