For Healthy Gums - Lemon And Garlic

Daily consumption of two cloves of garlic and one medium-sized lemon stops bleeding gums ...

A study shows that daily consumption of two cloves of garlic and one medium-sized lemon significantly increases the levels of vitamin C in the body and thus stops bleeding gums.

The study was conducted by Punjabi University and led by Dr. M.S. Sohal. It included 67 patients, some of whom were sworn smokers and the rest non-smokers. They all complained of bleeding gums, which occurred almost every day, especially during brushing. For 4 weeks they ate two cloves of garlic every day and drank a glass of lemon juice without added sugar and salt.

Lemon is rich in vitamin C, which as a natural antioxidant improves the structure of blood vessels and thus reduces non-physiological bleeding, while garlic by a still unknown mechanism completely cures bleeding gums.

At the beginning of the study, researchers determined baseline values of vitamin C in both groups - smokers and non-smokers. As might be expected, the vitamin level in smokers was significantly lower than in non-smokers. After the study, the results showed that the level of vitamin C increased by 60% in smokers and only 25% in non-smokers. And yet cigarette lovers had lower levels of the vitamin.

In general, after the study, the percentage of bleeding gums in patients decreased dramatically, but mainly in non-smokers.
