Fruit Smoothie Kills The Usefulness Of Fiber

Blending breaks the long strands of insoluble fibers and prevents them from forming a gel with soluble fibers.

Preparation and consumption of troubled (thick blended drink of fruits and / or vegetables) is a particularly popular activity, most people adopt these drinks completely healthy and drink them regularly. This is harmful to health, especially if taken frequently, because it disrupts the structure of plant fibers.

There are two types of fiber : soluble and insoluble . Soluble fibers, such as pectin, have the properties of a gel, such as that which stabilizes jam and marmalades. Insoluble fiber is like cellulose, absorbs water in its structure and facilitates the passage of food and feces.

Foods that are good for humans, such as fruits, contain both types of fiber. When consuming fruit, both soluble and insoluble fiber are taken, which act in combination in favor of digestion. Together, they form a whitish gel inside the gut and form a secondary barrier that slows down the absorption of nutrients, including the passage of sugars into the blood. The swelling of insoluble fibers also brings a feeling of satiety for a longer time. Food moves more easily through the intestines and reaches the bacteria in the intestinal tract faster - they digest food and release many nutrients ready for human absorption.

The problem with smoothies is that when the fruit is blended, the insoluble fibers are torn into much smaller pieces than the teeth could. Their disturbed filamentous shape does not allow the creation of a gel with soluble fibers. Thanks to the solubles, food will still move faster through the red tract, which means that the signal to relieve hunger will occur faster, which is positive. But, of the four positive effects of fiber on human health, blending destroys three of them - delayed nutrient absorption, lowering the glucose spike and prolonged satiety.

In addition, these juices often consume more fruit than is necessary to consume, which automatically increases the amount of fruit sugar consumed. If such drinks are drunk daily, it leads to a greatly increased risk of obesity and diabetes.
