It is an indisputable and infinitely reminiscent fact that fruits are excellent sources of important nutrients for the body. However, some of them can lead to unpleasant bloating.
The reason lies in the content of fructose and sorbitol, which lead to the formation of gas in the intestines. On the other hand, they are rich in fiber, which in some cases can be difficult to absorb by the body, and the result can again be unpleasant - flatulence.
Of course, this fact should not stop us from consuming fruits and vegetables, but it is still not superfluous to keep in mind the possible "side effects" of some of them.
1. Apples
These fruits are full of antioxidants. In fact, green apples contain more antioxidants than berries. Fructose can also be found in useful fruit, which is more difficult for some to digest. When this process begins, a feeling of swelling may occur.
If this happens, we should try to consume half an apple instead of the whole one and chew it more slowly. In this way, the body can more efficiently process the fibers contained in the fruit.
2. Pears
As part of a healthy diet, pears contain pectin - a type of soluble fiber that helps lower cholesterol levels and leaves a feeling of satiety for longer.
Unfortunately, these fruits contain sorbitol - a sugar alcohol that can be added artificially to the gum, for example. Usually, a small amount of this type of sugar can be good for the digestive system, but some are likely to experience bloating.
Because sorbitol is absorbed more slowly in the small intestine than other sugars, it can pass into the large intestine where it can begin to ferment. This process often leads to swelling, gas and cramps in some. There is no way to reduce the side effects of sorbitol other than to avoid it.
