Ginger reduces the risk of colon cancer by suppressing inflammatory processes in the gut.
Ginger reduces the risk of colon cancer by suppressing inflammatory processes in the gut, according to a new scientific study presented in Cancer Prevention Research.
Studies so far have repeatedly shown that controlling chronic inflammatory processes in the intestine reduces the risk of developing cancer.
The team of Prof. Susanna Zick of the Medical Center of the University of Michigan monitored the condition of 30 volunteers who took 2 grams of ginger root extract. This amount is equal to two tablespoons of grated fresh root of the plant.
In analyzing the data before and after taking the supplement, the researchers found a 28% decrease in inflammatory processes
However, in order to make recommendations for the use of ginger for the prophylactic purpose against colon cancer , Prof. Susanna Zick herself emphasizes that a larger study is needed.
