Egyptian doctors at the University of Alexandria have concluded that green tea stimulates the action of antibiotics and thus helps fight bacteria. This is especially important for emerging resistant strains.

Doctors have studied the effect of green tea against 28 pathogenic microorganisms, and in each case a positive result was observed. For example, chloramphenicol has 99.99% higher activity in combination with tea than when used alone. A similar effect is observed with cephalosporins against 20% of bacteria.

Experts want to emphasize the role of natural products in the fight against infections. They are also looking at other herbs such as thyme and oregano in search of substances to deal with antibiotic resistance.
