Honey is the most ancient food on Earth because the bee is 60,000 years older than man. This product is undoubtedly tasty and useful. It consists of 78% sugars (levulose, glucose, fructose, maltose), 20% water and 2% mineral salts. It is high in calories and is suitable for athletes and people engaged in heavy physical work; for children by virtue of their growth; for recovering from illness.

Honey contains useful enzymes and trace elements needed by our organs and tissues. These are: potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iodine, iron. In addition, the presence of some trace elements in honey corresponds exactly to their concentration in human blood. The product also contains biogenic stimulants that increase the body's tone: vitamins B2, B6, pantothenic and folic acids.

The bactericidal action of the product deserves special attention. It is due to the natural "antibiotic" produced by bees.

Unlike other foods, this one never molds. Although it contains sugars and enzymes, even the appearance of fungus and mold does not lead to anything, because the fungus simply dies in it. The maximum shelf life of honey is 1 year, after which it loses its antimicrobial properties, the amount of glucose and fructose is reduced by 10-20%, vitamins begin to break down, and the amounts of sucrose and acids increase.

Contraindications to honey

For the pancreas and the rate of fat formation, it doesn't matter if you swallow a handful of candy or eat honey with a tablespoon. In both cases, you are approaching diabetes and obesity at the same rate. To avoid these problems, eat no more than 1-2 tablespoons of honey a day. After consuming the product, be sure to rinse your mouth because you risk developing tooth decay. According to some experts, honey affects the teeth worse than sugar, because it sticks directly to the enamel.

In case of hypersensitivity of the body (idiosyncrasy), the product can lead to serious allergic reactions. In such people, even a teaspoon of it can cause general malaise, itchy skin, nausea, dizziness, fever. The most common signs of idiosyncrasy are: skin irritations (urticaria, eczema), respiratory problems (bronchial asthma, difficulty breathing), disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (vomiting, diarrhea).

Allergy to honey (and therefore to all its products) is rare (in 3-7% of people, mostly children). To avoid allergic reactions, it is not recommended for children under 2 years of age.
