On the shelves of supermarkets, the abundance of canned food literally dazzles the eyes. Let's say right away: you should not fall for bright labels, high-profile brands and beautiful packaging. Probably, you immediately have a question about how to choose a truly high-quality product from the canning abundance available today. Our answer: everything is simple, you need to know a few tricks that will help you make the right choice.

1. We consider the appearance, it can tell a lot. With plastic packaging it is easier, they are transparent, so you can easily see a low-quality product. As for canned foods in cans, you need to take a good look here. The jar must be whole, not dented, without stains and inclusions of rust. Adhesions along the edges of the jar should be smooth, and the lid and bottom should be flat, without signs of swelling. If the last jar of your favorite canned food with the above defects is left on the counter, in no case do not take it. Damaged jars can contain germs, and you don't want to be poisoned.

2. When buying canned products, be guided by the price. It is very rare to find a cheap and high-quality product, compare the prices of several proven brands and choose the best one for yourself. Buy canned food from trusted stores with a good reputation. Usually in such stores carefully monitor the quality.

3. Be sure to look at the date of manufacture of canned food. For fruits and vegetables, for example, the seasonality of the collection is important so that they fall into the jars directly from the garden. The same can be said about canned fish: there are certain seasons in the catch of fish, otherwise canned food will be from frozen raw materials. And, of course, keep track of the expiration dates indicated on the bank.

4. Determining how much fish or meat is in canned food packed in a can is simple: shake the can and by the sound of “gurgling” you will understand how much liquid is in the can and how much of the product itself. If the sound is loud and "convincing", then it is better to consider products from another brand.

5. Carefully study the markings on the bank. A can of canned food must be marked with letters and numbers in three rows, indicating the production time, the fishing industry index, the assortment sign (type of fish), and then the manufacturer's number. All markings must be embossed on the outside. If the opposite is true (canned food is labeled inside), it is a fake.

6. Check with the manufacturer. Even if the brand is well-known and advertised, this is not always a guarantee of good and high-quality products. Take a close look at the place where the product is made and think about where it is most often found fresh. For example, canned fish will be of the best quality if they are made on the ship immediately after being caught (which, of course, is rare). If the place of production is somewhere in the suburbs, then most likely the canned food will be from frozen fish.

7. As for the composition, then know: the shorter it is, the better. Ideal canned food should contain the declared product, some spices, fat, salt and sugar.

8. If you buy canned food in the market and they try to slip you a jar without any identification marks, feel free to turn around and leave. This purchase does not bode well, think about your health.

9. There are also situations in which you buy canned food that has not yet expired, in good packaging, and when you open it, you are disappointed. If you are confused by the “not very beautiful” appearance, unpleasant smell, stains or rust on the walls of the jar, it’s better not to risk it and contact the store where you bought the canned food, or send it straight to the trash can.

Be careful in choosing products and remember: health cannot be bought for any amount of money!
