Required products :

  • 1 packet of pie crusts
  • 500 grams of ghee (or butter)

for the filling:

  • 1 kg of nuts
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon rose water

For syrup:

  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon rose water

Method of preparation :

Grind the walnuts in a blender along with a teaspoon of sugar to keep them crumbly. Mix them in a large bowl with the remaining sugar and half a glass of rose water. Stir well.

Cut the pastry crusts in the middle horizontally, then divide into 3 vertically. You should get 6 piles of rectangles.

While rolling the baklava, cover the crusts with a towel so that they do not dry out. Take 5 sheets from the obtained rectangles and put 1 teaspoon of the walnut mixture on them. Make them into a small roll.

Grease a pan with ghee and arrange all the baklava on top.

Melt the butter and pour over the rolls.
Bake in the oven for 25 minutes until the baklava is browned.

Meanwhile, make the syrup.

Pour the rose water and sugar into the pan and place on a medium heat. Wait until the sugar has melted.

When the syrup thickens, cool and check that it is ready. An indication that its density is ideal is if a drop of it is retained before it falls.

Pour over the baklava and leave to syrup overnight.

Enjoy!
