Required products :

12 thick slices of old white bread
150 grams of butter
250 grams of dark chocolate (70% cocoa)
600 milliliters of liquid cream with a fat content of 33%
1 tea cup of fresh milk
1 tea cup of sugar
8 egg yolks
1 packet of vanilla sugar a
pinch of salt

Method of preparation :

Melt the butter, spread it on the slices of bread on both sides and arrange them in a pan. Bake in a preheated 210 degree oven until golden, turning once on the other side.

Break the chocolate into pieces, put them in a bowl and melt. In a separate bowl, pour the milk and cream, heat them, but do not allow the liquid to boil.

Mix the yolks with the sugar and add the hot milk mixture to them, pouring it in a thin stream, stirring. Immediately strain and remove the foam.

Combine with melted chocolate, add vanilla sugar, a pinch of salt and stir.

Pour the chocolate mixture over the bread and cover the dish with foil, pressing the slices so that they can be well soaked. Put some weight on top and leave for an hour. When you remove the coating, pierce the bread in several places with a toothpick and bake the pudding in a water bath in a preheated oven to 160 degrees for 1.5 hours.

All the liquid should evaporate and the surface of the cake should become shiny.

Serve the pudding warm.

Enjoy your meal!
