Required products :

for the sauce:

  • 3/4 tea cup sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt

for tomatoes:

  • 4-5 different colored tomatoes - red, yellow, green
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • frying oil

Method of preparation :

In a bowl, mix the sour cream and mayonnaise, add the buttermilk, lemon juice and spices. Stir well until a homogeneous smooth mixture is obtained - all lumps of dairy products should dissolve. Refrigerate the sauce while cooking the tomatoes.

For them, cut each tomato into slices about 1.5 cm thick. Lightly salt them on both sides.

Put 1/2 tea cup of flour in a bowl, and in another mix the remaining flour with the cornmeal, hot sauce, garlic and salt.

In a third bowl, mix the eggs with the buttermilk.

Dip the flour slices first in the flour, then in the egg mixture, and finally in the one with the cornmeal.

Heat the fat in a large pan and after it heats up well, fry the tomatoes - for about 1 minute per side, until their breading turns golden brown. Drain on paper and salt.

Serve the tomatoes with the chilled sauce.
