How To Cook Butter Seed Biscuits - Recipe

Required products :

  • 3/4 cup white flour
  • 3/4 cup wholemeal flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut shavings
  • 1 and 3/4 teaspoons of poppy seeds
  • 1 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon grated nutmeg or powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon mango powder (or ginger powder)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 tablespoons butter, soft
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 egg

* A tea cup is used to measure the quantities.

Method of preparation :

Combine white and wholemeal flour, coconut shavings, poppy seeds, ginger, nutmeg, mango powder (or ginger powder), baking powder and salt.

Beat the butter, sugar and vanilla with an electric mixer on medium speed until well combined. Without stopping the mixer, add olive oil. Reduce the speed and gradually pour the flour mixture until a smooth dough is obtained. 

Pour the dough on a large sheet of parchment paper, form a rectangle and cover with another sheet of parchment. Roll out and cool for 1 hour in the refrigerator.

Place the shelf in the upper third of the oven and preheat it to 190 degrees.

Remove the top sheet of paper and cut the dough into small squares. Arrange the squares in a greased pan at a distance of 2 cm from each other. Bake until golden brown for 12-16 minutes, remove and cool completely. 

Serve the biscuits with cream cheese or a hot drink if desired.
