Translated "tres leches" means "three milks". This cake has been a popular dessert in Mexico since the 19th century. Juicy, milky and extremely tasty.

Required products :

  • 1 cup universal flour
  • 1/2 cup wholemeal flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs (at room temperature)
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup low-fat milk
  • 1 can of low-fat sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can of low-fat boiled milk
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • strawberries, sliced ​​for garnish

Method of preparation :

Preheat oven to 180 degrees.

Grease a glass baking dish.

Mix the universal flour, wholemeal flour, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl.

Beat the eggs, 1/2 cup sugar and vanilla with a mixer on medium speed until very light and fluffy. Add half of the flour mixture and continue to stir on low speed until combined. Pour in the milk, then pour in the remaining flour mixture and continue to mix with the mixer until all the ingredients are well mixed. Spread the dough evenly in the prepared baking dish.

Bake the cake for 20-25 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for about 25 minutes on a wire rack.
Beat the condensed and boiled milk in a medium bowl. Pierce the whole cake with a fork and slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake and on the edges. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, up to a maximum of 1 day.

Before serving, beat the cream in a medium bowl with a mixer until soft peaks form. Add the remaining 1 tablespoon of sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks. Decorate the cake with whipped cream and garnish with strawberries if desired.
