Required products :

500 grams of carrots

250 grams of sugar + a little more for rolling

1 teaspoon water

1/2 lemon

Method of preparation :

Wash the carrots, peel them and cut into cubes approximately 1x1 cm.

Boil the syrup from the water and sugar, letting the mixture boil over low heat and let it cook until the liquid thickens (about 10 - 12 minutes).

Pour the carrots into the hot syrup, cook for 15 minutes.

Turn off the heat and let the carrots stand for a few hours. Then put back on the stove, bring to a boil and leave for a while. You can do this procedure 2-3 more times. Carrot cubes should become almost transparent.

Add the lemon juice at the last boil.

Pour the sweet orange pieces into a colander to drain off the excess syrup and roll the cubes in sugar (put them in a bowl, sprinkle with white crystals and stir).

Spread the candied carrots on a sheet of baking paper or towel and let them dry near a heater overnight. You can use the oven - put them in it for 30 minutes at a temperature of 80 - 90 degrees, then leave to cool without removing.

The finished sweet is stored for up to several weeks in a tightly closed jar.

Enjoy your meal!
