Required products :

  • 1 tablespoon flaxseed
  • 100 grams of pitted dates, sliced
  • 50 grams of butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 150 grams of flour
  • 125 grams of brown muscovado sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

for the sauce:

  • 125 grams of muscovado sugar
  • 250 milliliters of almond milk

Method of preparation :

Turn on the oven to preheat to 180 degrees.

Grind the flaxseed and put it in a small bowl, add 3 tablespoons of water and wait a few minutes for the mixture to harden.

Meanwhile, boil the dates in 150 milliliters of hot water. Put the butter and, after it has melted, remove from the heat and dissolve the soda in the water.

Mix the flour with the sugar and add a pinch of salt. Pour in the dates (including the liquid), flaxseed and vanilla. Stir and pour into a suitable 22 cm form.

For the sauce, combine the brown sugar with the almond milk and stir to dissolve the crystals.

Pour over the cake and bake for 30 minutes - the sauce will thicken at the bottom of the dish.

Serve the dessert warm with a spoonful of ice cream.
