Fried fish and chips - Fish and chips - a British dish that can be said to be part of the national cuisine of the British.

Required products :

  • 55 grams of flour
  • 55 grams of cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/3 tea cup of dark beer
  • 1/3 tea cup of carbonated water
  • 4 fillets of white fish (about 200 grams each)

for chips:

  • 500 grams of potatoes
  • 1 liter of frying oil

Method of preparation :

In a bowl, mix the flour (except 2 tablespoons) with the cornstarch and add the baking powder. Season with salt and pepper.

 

Pour the beer, soda water and stir to combine. Put the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or up to 1 hour.

Cut the potatoes into sticks. Pour them into a colander and wash with cold water.

 

Then transfer to a saucepan of cold water, place on the stove and wait for the liquid to boil. Cut for 3-4 minutes and remove from the heat. Drain the potatoes and dry them with kitchen paper.

 

Put them in a bowl and cover with paper. Put them in the refrigerator.

 

Meanwhile, dry the fish fillets and season with a little salt.

 

Heat the fat to 175 degrees in a large pan and fry the potatoes for 3-4 minutes, they should not turn brown. Drain the fat and set aside.

 

Put the separated flour in a bowl and roll the fish in it, then dip it in the breadcrumbs.

 

Fry the fillets in hot oil until crispy and golden.

 

Transfer them to a napkin to absorb excess fat.

 

Increase the temperature of the stove and fry the potatoes in well-heated oil until golden and crispy.

Serve the dish warm!
