Required products :

  • 2 tea cups grated cheddar (or yellow cheese)
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter (slightly softened)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • a pinch of cayenne pepper if desired

Method of preparation :

Mix all products with a mixer with dough attachments. The dough is very sticky (if you wish, you can knead by hand and skip using the mixer).

Transfer to a floured surface and stir several times until a ball forms.

Roll out a nearly 30-centimeter wick with the palms of your hands and wrap in foil. Refrigerate for 1 hour to set.

If you want to give a different shape to the salt shakers, you can roll them out, then cool them and cut the desired shapes.

Turn on the oven to preheat to 200 degrees.

With a sharp knife, cut the roll into slices, which you arrange in a tray with paper placed on its bottom.

Bake for 12-15 minutes, until they change color slightly and turn brown at the edges.

You can store the pickles in a box for a few days at room temperature or freeze them, then transfer them to the refrigerator overnight to relax.
