Necessary products:

  • 500 grams of chickpeas
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 2 medium onions (finely chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil or a pinch of dry
  • 1 teaspoon marjoram
  • salt, ground black pepper (or chili pepper) - to taste
  • breading flour
  • frying oil

Method of preparation:

Soak chickpeas for 12 hours at room temperature. Drain the water, sprinkle with baking soda and leave for 10 minutes. Then wash well, put in a saucepan and pour 6 cups of water. Bring to a boil and remove the foam with a slotted spoon. Close the pan with a lid and let the chickpeas boil for 1-2 hours until soft (try). Do not add salt, because it will cook more slowly.

When the chickpeas are ready (they should be whole, not boiled), drain the water and grind it with a blender. Boil the potatoes, mash them as well. Mix the two purees. Add the chopped onion, spices, salt and stir. Put the finished "minced meat" for 1 hour in the refrigerator.

When you take it out of the fridge, form meatballs from the mixture, roll them in flour and fry in hot oil until golden. Arrange them on paper to drain off excess fat. Serve with fresh vegetables - a simple salad of tomatoes and cucumbers is enough.
