Necessary products:
1 liter of high-fat milk (eg 3.5%)
120 grams of cornstarch
2 egg yolks
250 grams of sugar
cinnamon stick
peel of 1 lemon and 1 orange
For frying:
1 egg
flour
vegetable oil (preferably olive oil)

sugar
ground cinnamon
Method of preparation:
Pour 750 milliliters of milk into a saucepan, add the citrus peels, put on the stove and bring to a boil. Then close the container with a lid and let the milk absorb the aromas (about 10 minutes). During this time, dissolve the starch in the remaining 250 milliliters, mix well so that no lumps form. If you do not have cornstarch, do not replace it with potato, but use plain flour.
Beat the yolks lightly until a homogeneous mixture is formed. You should know that they are not a mandatory ingredient, they are added for greater tenderness of the dessert. Then combine the two mixtures - egg and starch. Remove the crusts from the hot milk, add the sugar and put on low heat until it melts. Then pour the mixture of eggs and starch into the hot milk, stir vigorously with a wire whisk to avoid lumps. Cook over low heat until thickened and do not stop stirring. It is important not to let the mixture boil vigorously. Usually, it thickens the fastest just before it boils, so be careful. You should get the consistency of egg custard, which should be poured into a rectangular shape, greased with butter. It is good for the thickness of the layer to be 2-3 centimeters. Leave the form for a few hours, to cool and harden the contents (but do not refrigerate). You can also leave for 1 night. When the cream hardens, pour it carefully on the counter and cut into small squares or rectangles. The texture is similar to jelly and easy to cut, but the structure is soft and tender, so you have to work carefully.
Prepare two plates: one with flour, the other with egg. Heat oil in a pan (medium heat), roll each of the pieces of cream in the flour, then dip in the egg and again in the flour. Fry in a large amount of hot fat over medium heat until golden. Remove the dessert with a slotted spoon to drain off the excess fat, then roll in sugar (you can mix it with cinnamon if you wish). When serving, the dessert should be cold. You can offer with fruit, a scoop of ice cream, sweet sauce or jam.
