In recent years, gingerbread cookies are an integral part of the Bulgarian Christmas, and the classic ginger man is known to all.
Here's how to make everyone's favorite sweets, and how you decorate the little figurines is up to you.

Required products :

  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 60 grams of sugar
  • 50 grams of butter
  • 3 tablespoons whole cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 175 grams of flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Method of preparation :

Heat the golden syrup along with the sugar and butter. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from the heat, add the cream and spices and mix all the ingredients well.

Mix the flour and baking soda and gradually add to the liquid products, stirring until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Sprinkle the dough on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, cover with another sheet and knead to flatten the dough. Leave for a few hours in the refrigerator, during which time it will harden.

Roll it out to a thickness of no more than 5 millimeters to finally get crunchy cookies. Use the cutters to make the shapes you want. In a preheated 180 degree oven, bake the cookies placed in a tray lined with paper.

Between 8-10 minutes later, the cookies will be ready - you will recognize the brown edges. If you want to use the sweets for decoration, immediately make a hole in their upper part, through which you can later pass a string. Act quickly, because over time cookies become hard and crunchy.

Keep in an airtight container those you intend to consume, and decorate your home with the rest, if desired!

Make it crispy!
