Required products :

  • 3/4 tea cup soft butter
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons ginger powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • a pinch of cloves
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

for the glaze:

  • 1/2 teaspoon of oil reached room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons powdered sugar
  • 5 tablespoons caramel
  • sugar sprinkles of your choice

Method of preparation :

Cover a square tray with 18 cm sides with paper, with the edges protruding.

Beat the butter and sugar for about 3-4 minutes until fluffy. Add the eggs and molasses, combine the products.

In another bowl, mix the flour, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, baking powder and salt, then mix with the liquid ingredients. Cool for 30 minutes.

Transfer the dough to the pan and flatten. Bake in a preheated oven at 170 degrees for 18-20 minutes.

Cool completely in the pan, then remove the cake from it.

Beat the butter for the glaze until creamy, add the sugar and mix well. Finally add the caramel and mix again.

Spread the icing on the cake, sprinkle with the decoration, cut and serve.
