Required products :

  • 1/2 orange
  • 3/4 tea cup of water
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 20 cloves
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 star anise
  • 750 milliliters of red wine

Method of preparation :

  • Peel the orange into long strips, being careful not to touch the white part of the peel.
  • Squeeze the juice and set aside.
  • Heat the water and sugar in a large saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a boil until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Reduce heat and add cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise, orange peel and orange juice.
  • Let the sauce simmer for 1 minute, reduce the heat again and add the wine.
  • Let the mixture simmer for at least 20 minutes, being careful not to boil.
  • Strain the mulled wine and pour it into glasses. Garnish and serve.
