Gyros is a Greek doner that is very similar to the one we know. Now we offer you a variation of Greek street food.

Required products :

for the meat stuffing:

  • 1 kg of minced lamb
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 thin slices of bacon, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons dried Italian spices
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

for the salad:

  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped watermelon (cleaned of seeds)
  • 1/4 tea cup of cheese, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion
  • 1 tablespoon fresh mint, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

for the sandwich:

  • 1 cucumber, cut into strips with a peeler
  • 6 flat cakes (pie type)
  • 3/4 tea cup yogurt

Method of preparation :

Preheat oven to 160 degrees.

In a large bowl, place the minced meat, add the onion, bacon, Italian spice, salt, cumin and black pepper. Place the mixture in a robot and grind until a fine mixture is obtained. Divide between rectangular trays (for cake) and flatten.

Bake for about 1 hour - 1 hour and 15 minutes, until ready. If you want to store, you can freeze for up to 3 months.

Prepare the salad by simply mixing all the products in a large bowl.

Assemble the sandwich: fold the bread and fill it with the other products (meat mixture, salad, cucumber) and serve.
