Required products :

for the stroll :

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 6 tablespoons flour
  • 3 tablespoons rolled oatmeal
  • 2 tablespoons hazelnuts, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons low-fat buttermilk

for the cake :

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup wholemeal flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, soft
  • 1 egg
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons grated orange peel
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/2 cup low-fat buttermilk
  • 2 cups cherries (or cherries), pitted and cut in half
  • olive oil for spreading + flour

Method of preparation :

Turn the oven to 190 degrees.

Mix in a small bowl the sugar, flour, oatmeal, hazelnuts, cinnamon and nutmeg. Add olive oil and 2 teaspoons of buttermilk, stir and set aside.

In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. In a large bowl, mix the sugar and butter and beat with a mixer on medium speed for 3 minutes or until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, beat for 1 minute and pour the orange peel and almond extract. Add the flour mixture and 1/2 cup of buttermilk to the sugar mixture in succession and beat until homogeneous. Pour the cherries (or cherries) and stir.

Pour the dough into a pan with a falling bottom, pre-greased and sprinkled with flour. Sprinkle with strosel and bake in preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until done. Turn the pan over in the middle of baking.

Remove the pan from the oven, cool, cut into pieces and serve.
