Did you know that you can make homemade aromatic extracts instead of buying them from the store? All you need are a few glass bottles or jars, favorite fruits, herbs or spices, vodka and a few weeks time. That's the whole philosophy.

We offer recipes for four favorite flavors - vanilla, mint, orange and lemon.

Homemade vanilla extract

Required products :

  • 3 whole vanilla pods
  • vodka / or bourbon /

Method of preparation :

  • Cut the vanilla pods in half, then cut them lengthwise so that the seeds are visible.
  • Put them in a clean glass bottle.
  • Add vodka to the neck of the bottle and close it tightly.
  • Store it in a dry and cool place, turning it upside down from time to time.
  • After 5-6 weeks you will have vanilla extract.

 

Homemade mint extract

Required products :

  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh mint leaves
  • vodka

Method of preparation :

  • Put the mint leaves in a clean glass bottle.
  • Mash them lightly with a skewer.
  • Add vodka to the neck of the bottle and close it tightly.
  • Store it in a dry and cool place, turning it upside down from time to time.
  • After 5-6 weeks you will have mint extract.
  • Strain, remove the mint and pour the extract back into the bottle.

Homemade orange extract

Required products :

  • 1 large orange
  • vodka

Method of preparation :

  • Peel thin strips of orange peel.
  • Transfer them to a glass bottle.
  • Add vodka to the neck of the bottle and close the cap tightly.
  • Store it in a dry and cool place, turning it upside down from time to time.
  • After 5-6 weeks you will have orange extract.

 

Homemade lemon extract

Required products :

  • 1 large lemon
  • vodka

Method of preparation :

  • Peel thin strips of lemon peel.
  • Transfer them to a glass bottle.
  • Add vodka to the neck of the bottle and close the cap tightly.
  • Store it in a dry and cool place, turning it upside down from time to time.
  • After 5-6 weeks you will have lemon extract.
