Lemons are fruits that can be found all year round in the commercial network. Store lemons at room temperature
At first glance, sour yellow citrus seems to be able to be stored for a long time at room temperature, but over time their suitability for consumption decreases significantly because they lose their moisture, dry out or vice versa - mold and spoil.
Without a refrigerator, their shelf life is no more than 14 days. To prolong it, smear the peel of the fruit with vegetable oil. This will keep them for another week.
In order not to rot, it is necessary to store them in a maximum dry place, and it is necessary to avoid direct sunlight on them. Also, if they are not refrigerated, they should not be placed in a plastic bag.
Store lemons in the refrigerator
Most often we store useful citrus fruits in the refrigerator. To keep them usable for longer, it is recommended to wrap them in paper before placing them in the cold. Thus, the coating will absorb excess moisture from the fruit.
The crusts can also be greased with oil, then closed in a plastic bag and only then - in the refrigerator.
The temperature in the appliance is also important and it should not be higher than +8 degrees.
If these tips are followed, the fruit will be fresh for about 2 months.
Storage of sliced lemons
Let's start with the fact that sliced citrus can not be kept fresh for a long time, as it will simply dry quickly. To slow down this process a bit, place the lemon in a plate with the cut side down and close with a glass or other suitable container.
Another effective way to preserve whole fruit is to smear it with vinegar or sugar before placing it on a plate.
If an egg white is applied to the incision, a certain result will also be achieved.
An option is to immerse the whole part of the lemon in water that does not cover the cut.
