Required products :

  • 1 teaspoon (250 milliliters) of rice
  • 300 grams of cabbage
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 medium onion
  • 4-5 mushrooms (about 150 grams in total)
  • 150 grams of tomato puree
  • 1.5 teaspoons hot water (to dilute tomato paste)
  • 2-3 tablespoons oil
  • 2-3 tablespoons flour
  • salt, pepper, sugar to taste

Method of preparation :

Wash the rice under running water, pour it into a saucepan and pour boiling water, the ratio of grains to 2: 1 (water: rice). Cook for about 20-25 minutes. If the rice is not ready by this time, add some more water. Allow it to cool.

Peel onions and carrots. Grate carrots on a medium grater, onions cut into small cubes. Pour them into the hot oil in a pan and fry over medium heat for about 5-8 minutes until soft.

Wash the mushrooms, dry them, peel them if desired. Then chop finely and add to the remaining products. Stir and fry for about 5 minutes.

Wash and dry the cabbage leaves, cut them into thin straws, add to the pan and stir. Fry for about 10 minutes to soften and cool the contents of the dish to room temperature.

Pour the tomato puree into a deep bowl, dilute with boiling water and stir until smooth. Season with black pepper, sugar and salt to taste.

Mix the cooked rice and fried vegetables with the mushrooms. Stir.

Depending on the density of the mixture, add 2-3 tablespoons of flour to obtain the required density.

Form "sarmi", arrange them in a pan, pour the tomato sauce and bake in the oven (30-40 minutes at 180 degrees are enough).

Serve with fresh vegetables.

Have a good time!
