How To Cook Lean Sarma With Mushrooms, Millet And Vegetable Stuffing - Recipe

Learn how to cook "Lean sarmi with mushrooms, millet and vegetable stuffing". Delicious recipe.

Required products :

  • 10-15 fresh cabbage leaves
  • 1 teaspoon millet
  • 300 grams of mushrooms
  • 2 onions
  • 2 carrots
  • a few cloves of garlic (to taste)
  • 3 fresh tomatoes, 2 tablespoons tomato paste or 1 teaspoon tomato juice
  • oil, spices, salt

Method of preparation :

Wash the millet several times (until clear water) and boil it for 20 minutes (until ready).

Remove the thick core of the cabbage leaves and put them in water with a pinch of salt and 0.5-1 teaspoon of vinegar to soften and make it easy and convenient to roll them without breaking them.

Fry the chopped onions, garlic and carrots in oil, add the tomato puree (juice or grated fresh tomatoes) and stew the vegetables for another 5-10 minutes.

Cut the mushrooms into small pieces and fry in oil over medium heat for 10-15 minutes. Mix them with boiled millet and vegetable stuffing, season.

Put the stuffing on the cabbage leaves and form sarmi. Arrange them in a saucepan, the bottom of which is pre-covered with two leaves of fresh cabbage. Pour the rest of the vegetables over the sarma.

Pour a little water or use some of the liquid in which you boiled the leaves before. The amount should be enough to cover the sarma.

Place the pan on a hot plate over medium heat, let the dish simmer for 20 minutes. When done, you can garnish with chopped parsley and serve with sour cream or your favorite sauce.

Enjoy your meal!
